British audio manufacturer Bowers & Wilkins has released the 707 Prestige Edition, a new bookshelf loudspeaker that joins the company’s existing 700 Series range. The speaker is available from selected Australian retailers for $3,199 per pair.

The 707 Prestige Edition is exclusively available in a Santos Gloss finish, created using 12 layers of paint and lacquer. The finish is inspired by the Santos Rosewood used on the 805 D3 Prestige Edition. A unique rear logo plate distinguishes the model from the standard 707 S3.

Optional FS-700 S3 floorstands in black or silver finishes are available for buyers who prefer to mount the speakers on a stand.

Acoustic Design

The 707 Prestige Edition builds on the acoustic platform of the 707 S3, which shares a number of technologies with the company’s 800 Series Diamond range used in recording studios.

The speaker is a two-way vented-box design with a curved front baffle. It features a 25mm Carbon Dome tweeter and a 130mm Continuum cone bass/midrange driver.

To deliver a more refined sound than the standard model, the Prestige Edition incorporates components drawn from the 705 S3 Signature, including a carefully optimised high-frequency tweeter grille mesh and upgraded low-loss speaker terminals.

The company says the combination of these upgrades is intended to improve resolution and soundstage scale over the standard 707 S3.

The 700 Series

The broader 700 Series is positioned by Bowers & Wilkins as a way to bring studio-grade sound into the home, incorporating technologies found in the 800 Series Diamond range.

The range is designed to offer models suited to different room sizes and décor preferences.
