Five Sigma has led a USD 7 million (AUD 10 million) funding round for India-based education technology provider Uolo as the company pushes deeper into Ai-driven classroom tools across one of the world’s largest school systems.

The new capital will support Uolo’s plan to extend its learning platform across India’s 1.5 million schools. The company has built momentum across the market by positioning its Ai tools as a way to lift student engagement and support teachers managing large class sizes.

Uolo’s learning programs are already used in more than 19,000 schools, supporting 150,000 teachers and around eight million students. The platform uses generative tools to deliver interactive content at home and in the classroom and will expand its Ai-based learning companions as part of the latest investment.

Funding To Support Rapid Scale Across India

Five Sigma Managing Partner, Peter Mobbs, said the scale of India’s education system creates opportunities for tools that can personalise learning at a nationwide level.

“As a global EdTech investor focused on the future of learning and work, we believe the opportunity for Ai technology in the education sector is immense,” he said. “We’re proud to have led this funding round and to continue backing Uolo as the company realises its ambitious expansion plans in one of the world’s fastest growing markets.”

Mobbs pointed to the size of the sector as a driver of growth. “With almost 250 million students and 1.5 million schools across India, this funding will accelerate Uolo’s expansion in what is increasingly becoming an education-obsessed nation and help Uolo deliver its life-changing Ai powered learning tools to millions more students,” he said.

He said Uolo’s existing network of schools and its technology foundation give it a defined path to broader adoption.

Investors Expect Ai To Reshape Classroom Tools

Existing investors Blume, Morphosis and Alicorn also joined the round. The company intends to use the funding to reach tens of millions of students, expand its generative learning agents and deepen its school-level integrations.

Uolo has built its model around direct relationships with schools rather than consumer subscriptions, giving it a channel to distribute content at scale. The provider said the latest raise strengthens its capacity to support teachers with tools designed to maintain motivation and guide learning progress.

Five Sigma indicated it sees long-term room for Ai to influence how schools structure support for students and how teachers manage workloads in complex environments.

Uolo will continue to roll out its platform across India as the company positions itself to meet expanded demand for digital learning tools tied to national curriculum changes and rising expectations among parents.
