Australia Post is reminding customers to get their Christmas gifts in the mail this week, with deadlines fast approaching for parcels to arrive before 25 December.
The postal service has set a cut-off of Friday 19 December for Parcel Post deliveries headed interstate. For same-state deliveries, customers have until Monday 22 December to lodge items. Those using Express Post will have until Tuesday 23 December to get their gifts on the move.
Deliveries to or from Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Tasmania or regional areas may need more time, with Australia Post advising senders to post early to avoid potential delays.
Cards And Letters Also Have Deadlines
For traditional Christmas cards and letters, senders have a little less time. Same-state items should be lodged by Thursday 18 December, while interstate mail should go out by Tuesday 16 December.
Australia Post Executive General Manager Parcel, Post and eCommerce Services, Gary Starr, said the network was geared up for what is expected to be another busy December.
“Our team members are working tirelessly around the clock to make sure your parcels arrive on time for Christmas,” Starr said.
“To avoid disappointment, we strongly encourage customers to send their gifts as early as possible.”
Network Boosts For Christmas Period
To handle the seasonal surge, Australia Post has rolled out extended trading hours at key facilities and Post Offices, brought on thousands of additional seasonal workers and continued weekend delivery services.
Freight operations are also running at full capacity across the country.
“We’re pulling out all the stops to keep gifts moving across the country,” Starr said.
Last year, Australia Post delivered almost 103 million parcels across November and December, with similar demand expected this year.
Tools To Track Parcels
The Australia Post app remains a key tool for customers looking to manage their deliveries during the holiday rush.
It offers secure delivery updates and lets users nominate a collection point. More than 1,000 Parcel Lockers are available nationally, offering an alternative to home delivery during peak periods.
