Atturra, a prominent advisory and IT solutions provider, has announced a strategic expansion of its sovereign cloud capabilities through a new deployment at NEXTDC’s S3 datacentre. This move is set to address the increasing demand for domestically hosted cloud services and Ai-as-a-Service workloads across Australia.

Chris McLaughlin, Executive General Manager of Managed Services at Atturra, emphasized the unique needs of their clients. “Many of our clients are finding that typical cloud hyperscaler platforms do not meet all their compute workload needs,” McLaughlin stated. He highlighted the performance, scalability, and resilience that Atturra’s cloud-based and hybrid infrastructures offer.

The deployment process at NEXTDC’s S3 datacentre, located in the Sydney suburb of Artarmon, will commence in August and conclude by December. It will feature a composable compute platform capable of supporting up to 36 servers and 400 terabytes of storage, enhanced by multiple high-speed network connections to ensure optimal performance and redundancy.

This expansion marks a continuation of a decade-long partnership with NEXTDC, according to McLaughlin. “NEXTDC’s industry-leading facilities throughout Australia provide the flexibility we need to support our clients irrespective of their geographic locations,” he added.

Steve Martin, Head of Sales for Major Markets in Australia at NEXTDC, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “We are excited to support Atturra’s expansion into Ai-as-a-Service. This underscores our commitment to delivering robust, scalable, AI-ready infrastructure that supports the growth of our partners and their clients,” Martin commented.

Workloads and Security

The new private cloud capacity will host a range of services including Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), along with object storage, firewalls, and Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS). Atturra is also working towards an ISO27001 certification for this new capacity to ensure the highest levels of data security and protection for its clients.

Business Impact

McLaughlin noted the strategic advantages this expansion brings to Atturra and its clients. “This new capacity not only supports our growth ambitions but also positions us strongly among other private cloud providers and offers a competitive edge for attracting new clients,” he explained.

For clients, the benefits are clear: faster provisioning times and seamless integration with other Atturra services, including recently announced AI-powered solutions in partnership with HPE and Nuix.

Future Growth

Atturra has future plans to further expand its presence within the NEXTDC S3 datacentre, holding options on additional server racks. “We are prepared to double our capacity at this site to accommodate the increasing business demand for AI, ensuring we continue to meet our clients’ needs well into the future,” McLaughlin stated.
