Asus has unveiled the ExpertBook Ultra, a business laptop weighing 0.99 KG that the company claims can deliver 50W of sustained CPU performance inside a 11mm-thin chassis without thermal throttling. The full review can be found over at High Performance Laptops.
The device was announced at the Next Enterprise Summit 2026 to an audience of more than 1,000 industry figures and enterprise partners, with Asus positioning it as a direct challenger to existing business laptop leaders across the Asia-Pacific region.
Available across Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand, the ExpertBook Ultra is a Copilot+ PC built around Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3 processors, with configurations ranging from the Core Ultra 5 up to the Core Ultra X9.
A Sub-1KG Frame With Workstation Ambitions
The ExpertBook Ultra’s chassis is built from aerospace-grade AZ31B magnesium-aluminium alloy using CNC machining. Asus claims the alloy is 34 per cent lighter than standard aluminium.
At 0.99 KG in its POLED display configuration and 10.9mm thin, the company describes it as the smallest-footprint 14-inch laptop currently available. The Tandem OLED display variant comes in slightly heavier at 1.09 KG.
The chassis is treated with what Asus calls Nano Ceramic Technology, a plasma electrolytic oxidation process that bonds a 9H-hardness ceramic layer to the metal surface. The company claims this makes the laptop five times more scratch-resistant than standard industry finishes. It meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards across 24 test procedures and has undergone 157 internal Asus tests, including 50,000 hinge cycles and 250,000 keycap rub cycles.
50W Sustained Performance In A Thin Chassis
The thermal system is central to the Asus pitch for this machine. Branded ExpertCool Pro, it uses dual fluid-dynamic bearing fans with 97 liquid-crystal polymer blades each measuring 0.15mm thick, paired with 0.1mm aluminium heatsink fins and a crosswind positive air-pressure design that Asus claims delivers a 12 per cent increase in central airflow pressure.
The result, according to the company, is sustained 50W CPU thermal design power without throttling – even when the lid is closed and the laptop is docked. In whisper mode, the system operates below 20dB at 15W CPU TDP. Standard mode runs below 28dB at 25W, while performance mode reaches up to 42dB at 45W.
S.Y. Hsu, Co-CEO of Asus, framed the laptop as the company’s answer to what business users need.
“We engineered this device with zero compromises. We understand that tomorrow’s business leaders require an AI-powered machine that thinks and operates as fast as they do, wrapped in a design that exudes elegance,” Hsu said.
Integrated Graphics That Challenge Nvidia
One of the more notable claims involves the laptop’s integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics, which features 12 Xe cores. Asus claims this integrated GPU outperforms a dedicated Nvidia RTX 4050 running at 30W TGP by approximately 35 per cent in 3DMark Time Spy benchmarks.
If accurate, it would represent a significant shift in what integrated graphics can deliver in a sub-1KG form factor, particularly for tasks like 4K video editing and 3D data visualisation.
PCIe Gen 5 Storage And Fast Memory
Storage is another area where Asus is making bold claims. The ExpertBook Ultra uses M.2 PCIe Gen 5.0 x4 NVMe drives with capacities up to 2TB, delivering read speeds that Asus says exceed 14,000 MB/s. That is roughly double the throughput of PCIe Gen 4 x4 drives used in most competing laptops.
The drives support OPAL 2.0 self-encrypting drive standards for hardware-level data protection.
Memory runs at up to 64GB of LPDDR5x clocked at 9,600 MT/s, which Asus notes is faster than the 8,533 or 8,448 MT/s configurations common in rival devices.

A 3K Tandem OLED Display At 1,400 Nits
The ExpertBook Ultra is available with two display options, both 14 inches in a 16:10 aspect ratio at 3K (2,880 x 1,800) resolution.
The primary option is a Tandem OLED touchscreen panel rated at 1,400 nits of peak HDR brightness and 600 nits SDR. It supports a 30-120Hz variable refresh rate, covers 100 per cent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and achieves Delta-E accuracy below 1. Asus claims the dual-layer Tandem OLED structure delivers triple the brightness of a conventional OLED while consuming 40 per cent less power and reducing burn-in risk.
The second option is a Polymer OLED (POLED) panel, which is the lighter configuration responsible for the 0.99 KG weight. It offers 1,000 nits HDR peak, 450 nits SDR and a fixed 120Hz refresh rate.
Both displays are covered with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and Gorilla Glass Matte, which uses nano-etching to achieve a reflection rate of 19 gloss units. Asus claims this reduces glare by 80 per cent and sparkle by 50 per cent compared to standard anti-glare screens.
Battery, Charging And Connectivity
A 70Wh battery supports up to 26 hours of use, according to Asus, with 50 per cent charge achievable in 30 minutes. The battery uses a 2S2P (two-series, two-parallel) architecture at 7.8V, which the company claims improves DC-DC conversion efficiency. It supports 5V to 20V charging, meaning it can be topped up from a standard smartphone power bank or an aircraft seat USB port.
Emma Ou, Commercial Regional Director at Asus for Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand, highlighted the mobility angle.
“The 0.99 KG weight, the sophisticated Morn Grey finish, and the ability to get six hours of productivity from a mere 15-minute charge redefine what it means to travel with power,” Ou remarked.
For connectivity, the laptop offers Thunderbolt 4 ports at 40Gbps and USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports at 10Gbps on both sides, along with HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. Wireless connectivity comes via triple-band Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) with 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 6.0, using laser direct structuring antenna integration that Asus claims yields a 43 per cent efficiency improvement in 5GHz and 6GHz bands.
Audio And Input
The ExpertBook Ultra packs a six-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system with dual-diaphragm woofers, dedicated tweeters and Cirrus Logic smart amplifiers, hitting a claimed 95dB peak output. The company says this is roughly 10dB louder than a typical ultrabook.
AI-powered noise-cancelling microphones are included for conferencing without a headset.
The keyboard offers 1.5mm of key travel, which Asus notes is above the 1.1mm industry average, with spill resistance and a UV coating designed to resist fingerprints and smudges. The 110 square centimetre haptic touchpad uses six force sensors to deliver consistent feedback across its surface, with built-in slide gestures for volume and brightness.
Enterprise Security And AI Features
Security is a focus of the spec sheet. The ExpertBook Ultra complies with NIST SP 800-193 firmware resilience standards, carries discrete TPM 2.0 certification (FIPS 140-2) and meets Microsoft’s Secured-Core PC requirements. It includes a self-healing dual BIOS ROM, Microsoft Pluton security processor, match-on-chip fingerprint reader, Windows Hello IR camera and a physical webcam privacy shield. Security compliance has been validated by SGS Brightsight in Singapore.
On the AI front, the laptop includes a dedicated NPU delivering 50 TOPS, contributing to a total platform compute of up to 180 TOPS. It ships with what Asus calls its MyExpert AI suite, including AI ExpertMeet for meetings and a local Knowledge Hub for on-device AI processing. The suite requires no subscription and does not depend on cloud connectivity.
Andrew Tang, Country Manager for Intel Singapore, pointed to the partnership behind the device.
“Intel and Asus share a long-standing partnership built on decades of innovation. With the Asus ExpertBook Ultra, we continue this collaboration by bringing the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors to businesses across the region, enabling AI-driven performance, advanced security and productivity for today’s workforce,” Tang commented.
Adam Owee, General Manager of Commercial Device and Solutions Sales for Microsoft’s Asia Region, addressed the software layer. According to Owee, the combination of Windows 11 Pro as a Copilot+ PC with the ExpertBook Ultra’s hardware allows enterprise users to access on-device AI capabilities such as real-time transcription, translation and AI-powered document search – designed to reduce latency and support data privacy.
