Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has introduced a series of platform updates across its Complete, Egencia and Neo products, adding AI-driven program intelligence for travel managers and new tools for disruption handling, loyalty integration and non-employee travel.
The updates are aimed at shifting the corporate travel conversation from cost tracking to measuring business outcomes, with features spanning spend visibility, real-time dashboards, mobile disruption management and automated benefits at point of booking.
President of Amex GBT, Drew Crawley, commented: “The business travel value conversation is shifting from ‘how much did we spend’ to ‘what did that travel enable’. We are investing in the technology, insights and expertise to support that shift so our customers and travelers can answer that question with confidence.”
Spend leakage visibility in Complete
A new leakage reporting capability within Complete gives travel managers a breakdown of how much is being spent outside the managed travel program. The data is segmented by line of business, travel category, vendor and traveller, and draws together travel and expense data from Concur Travel and Amex GBT, including offline bookings.
The feature builds on the broader partnership between Amex GBT and SAP Concur through the Complete platform. Customers are already pointing to the joint engineering work as a source of program improvement.
Senior Director of Global Travel at Salesforce, Dorian Stonie, remarked: “What Amex GBT and SAP Concur have accomplished together with Complete in nine months has been very impressive. The walls came down, and two things stand out.”
“First, the level of collaboration with joint engineering teams working side by side in ways that simply wouldn’t have been possible before has driven real improvement for my program and my travelers. Second, the pace of progress has genuinely exceeded my expectations, given the scope of what they have set out to deliver, and we’re looking forward to what Amex GBT and SAP Concur release next,” Stonie added.
Director of Strategic Sourcing, Global Travel and Event Management Services at ITW, Cathy Sharpe, noted: “I applaud Amex GBT and SAP Concur for coming together; it’s a great step forward. I always felt that push and pull between the two, and now seeing them work in parallel to get to outcomes faster? I love that.”
Egencia Travel Manager Dashboard
The Egencia platform has gained an AI-powered Travel Manager Dashboard built on more than a petabyte of travel data. It provides a centralised, real-time view of program performance and includes an AI-generated program summary, a feature Amex GBT calls the “One Minute Travel Manager” that updates fortnightly, key performance indicators, a travel program effectiveness score and proactive alerts.
The dashboard is designed to eliminate manual reporting. A shareable Travel Program Review function gives travel managers a data-backed program update that Amex GBT says can be generated in seconds and shared with leadership.
Mobile disruption management
The Complete mobile app now includes end-to-end disruption management. Travellers can access real-time notifications, self-service trip changes, automatic airline fee waivers, personalised recommendations and live chat support without leaving the app.
The capability is aimed at reducing the friction that occurs when flights are cancelled or itineraries disrupted, allowing travellers to rebook or adjust plans from their phone rather than calling a support line or switching between tools.
Loyalty and benefits at point of booking
A new feature called Perks brings supplier offers, negotiated rates and loyalty benefits directly into the booking experience across air, hotel and ground transport. It is launching first in Complete, with Egencia to follow.
Corporate contract benefits, traveller loyalty entitlements and Amex GBT-negotiated extras are surfaced and applied automatically at the point of sale. Amex GBT says this removes the need for travellers to switch tools or manage benefits manually.
New Perks capabilities include real-time loyalty validation so travellers automatically earn points when booking within the program, stacked benefits that apply corporate rates, loyalty entitlements and negotiated extras based on traveller profile and company agreements, one-click loyalty sign-up during the shopping experience, and access to fast track, status matches and other entitlements at the point of booking.

Guest travel and expense platform
Amex GBT’s Guest T&E platform, which manages non-employee travel and expense workflows from event creation and RSVP through booking, virtual card payment, expense management and reconciliation, has gained new capabilities and is being rolled out to additional markets.
The platform is live in the United States and United Kingdom, with Australia set to follow in the fourth quarter of 2026 and Singapore, Belgium, France and Germany in future phases.
New features include a per-event travel policy builder that enforces booking guardrails automatically at search, simplified guest bookings with pre-populated trip details such as dates, times and locations, HCP profiles and compliance extracts for Sunshine Act and MA Code adherence, and a Guest Hub providing a single real-time view of RSVPs and booking status across all guests.
AI-assisted virtual card budgeting and AI-generated event landing pages are on the roadmap for later in 2026.
Amex GBT says early enterprise deployments have shown an average event creation time of five minutes compared with up to four hours when done manually, 10 hours saved per event through automated reconciliation and a self-service booking rate of 94.5 per cent.
AI integrations
Amex GBT has also launched an Egencia AI connector in Claude, Anthropic’s AI assistant, enabling travellers and enterprise AI agents to search, book and manage policy-compliant business travel without leaving the tools they already use. The company has expanded conversational AI into Google Chat for Egencia and is running a Microsoft Teams pilot for Neo customers, underpinned by what Amex GBT describes as a proprietary agent-to-agent architecture.
Chief Product and Strategy Officer of Amex GBT, Evan Konwiser, stated: “What we’re announcing reflects the breadth of investment we’re making across our portfolio, from AI-powered program intelligence for travel managers to seamless disruption management for travelers, to a fully integrated solution for non-employee travel.”
“No matter what Amex GBT solution you’re on, you’re going to see the difference. We’re committed to making every part of the managed travel experience smarter, simpler and more connected,” Konwiser added.
