Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
AMD used its keynote at Computex 2025 to announce new entries across its graphics and processor lineups, including the Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU, the Radeon AI PRO R9700, and the Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series processors. These releases aim to broaden AMD’s presence across gaming, professional and Ai-enhanced computing, with a focus on local compute performance and scalable system integration.
Radeon RX 9060 XT Targets Mainstream Gamers
Built on AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is positioned as a 1440p-focused gaming GPU. It features up to 16GB of GDDR6 memory and 32 compute units. The card introduces second-generation Ai accelerators that support FidelityFX Super Resolution 4, which uses machine learning to boost visual fidelity and frame rates.
The RX 9060 XT also features support for ray tracing, Radeon Super Resolution and Fluid Motion Frames, with frame pacing and latency improvements via HYPR-RX.
Jack Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of AMD’s Computing and Graphics Group, said the new GPU demonstrates AMD’s strategy of delivering efficient compute performance to mainstream users.
“The Radeon RX 9060 XT and Radeon AI PRO R9700 bring the performance and Ai capabilities of RDNA 4 to workstations and gamers all around the world,” he said.
The RX 9060 XT is expected to be available from vendors including Acer, ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vastarmor, XFX and Yeston later this year. Two versions will be sold: the 8GB model at US$299 and the 16GB version at US$349.
| Model | Compute Units | VRAM | Game Clock (GHz) | Boost Clock (GHz) | Memory Interface | Infinity Cache | TBP | Price (USD SEP) |
| AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB | 32 | 8 GB | 2.53 | Up to 3.13 | 128-bit | 32 MB | Starting at 150W | $299 |
| AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB | 32 | 16 GB | 2.53 | Up to 3.13 | 128-bit | 32 MB | Starting at 160W | $349 |
Radeon AI PRO R9700 Expands Into Workstations
Targeted at professionals building or running Ai workloads locally, the Radeon AI PRO R9700 includes 64 compute units, 32GB of VRAM and PCIe Gen 5 support.
AMD said the GPU is suited for model finetuning, inference, and creative workloads. It supports ROCm software on Linux, with Windows compatibility expected soon.
The card offers double the Ai throughput of the previous generation and can scale across multiple GPUs, according to AMD. This makes it viable for high-demand scenarios such as rendering, simulation and parallel task execution.
The Radeon AI PRO R9700 is expected to launch in July 2025.
| Model | Compute Units | VRAM | Game Clock (GHz) | Boost Clock (GHz) | Memory Interface | Infinity Cache | TBP |
| AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 | 64 | 32 GB | 2.35 | Up to 2.92 | 256-bit | 64 MB | 300W |
Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series Broadens Desktop Capabilities
AMD’s new Threadripper 9000 Series includes two categories: the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000 WX-Series for enterprise workstations, and a separate Ryzen Threadripper 9000 line for high-end desktops.
The Threadripper PRO 9995WX leads the range with 96 cores and 192 threads. Other models scale down to 12-core configurations. All PRO chips feature AMD PRO technologies designed for security, stability and manageability in IT environments.
“These processors are built to break bottlenecks and accelerate innovation,” said Huynh.
Threadripper chips support up to 384MB of L3 cache and 128 lanes of PCIe 5.0 connectivity. AMD said they are intended for professionals working in visual effects, simulation and local Ai development.
For the high-end desktop market, the non-WX Threadripper 9000 Series offers similar architecture but is designed for creators and enthusiasts who need workstation-level compute without moving to a rackmount system.
