AMD has appointed Vinay Awasthi as Senior Vice President, Sales for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), tasking him with leading the chipmaker’s regional sales strategy and execution across one of its key growth regions.
Awasthi will be based in Singapore, where he will oversee efforts to deepen customer engagement, strengthen OEM and channel partnerships and align go-to-market strategies across APJ’s varied markets.
His remit spans cloud, enterprise, AI, commercial and consumer segments across the region.
The appointment reflects AMD’s ongoing investment in APJ as demand for AI and accelerated computing continues to grow across the region’s diverse markets.
Awasthi brings more than two decades of global sales leadership experience in the technology sector. Before joining AMD, he served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Compute Sales at Qualcomm. Prior to that, he spent 21 years at HP, where he held multiple senior leadership roles with both regional and global scope.

Throughout his career, Awasthi has built customer and partner relationships while driving growth across international markets.
“I am excited to join AMD at such an important moment for both the company and the industry,” Awasthi commented. “AMD’s broad portfolio of computing and AI solutions creates significant opportunities across the region. I look forward to working closely with our customers, partners and teams across APJ to strengthen collaboration, align execution and accelerate innovation and growth.”
AMD Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer, Darren Grasby, welcomed the new hire.
“We are thrilled to welcome Vinay to the team and are confident his leadership, expertise and customer focus will drive meaningful impact across the region,” Grasby stated.
With Awasthi now in place, AMD is looking to capture growing demand for AI and accelerated computing across APJ and to support its expanding customer and ecosystem partnerships at scale.
