Adobe has launched Acrobat Student Spaces, a free tool built into Adobe Acrobat that provides students with AI-powered study features, collaboration tools and career preparation resources. The tool is now available in beta.

Built with students

Student Spaces was developed through collaboration with hundreds of student beta testers, dozens of live feedback sessions and partnerships with university groups at Harvard, Brown, Marshall, University of Minnesota, San Jose State University and Berkeley.

Charlie Miller, Vice President of Education Product at Document Cloud, Adobe, emphasised the co-design approach.

“Every feature in Student Spaces was shaped by real students – because the best way to build for a generation is to build with them,” Miller explained.

He added that the company plans to continue expanding these partnerships. “We partnered with hundreds of student beta testers, hosted dozens of live feedback sessions, and worked side by side with student groups at Berkeley, Brown, Harvard, Marshall, San Jose State, and University of Minnesota to shape the very first version. And we’re just getting started.”

What it does

Student Spaces bundles several AI-powered features aimed at making study and collaboration faster for students managing heavy workloads across classes, assignments, group projects and exam preparation.

The tool includes customised study features that let students organise learning with study guides and mind maps generated from their files and notes, then test their knowledge with flashcards and quizzes.

An AI tutor function allows students to ask questions and break down complex topics, with clickable citations provided so answers can be verified. Audio summaries can turn class materials into podcast-style overviews for review on the go.

For group work, Student Spaces includes collaboration features and the ability to create class presentations powered by Adobe Express.

The tool also includes career preparation functions, helping students research and prepare for interviews and create professional-looking resumes and portfolios.

Acrobat as a student platform

Adobe is positioning Student Spaces as the first step in a broader vision for Acrobat as a destination for students.

“Student Spaces is the first step in Acrobat’s vision to become the destination where students learn, connect, create, and launch their careers – all in one place,” Miller noted.

He framed the initiative as an extension of Adobe’s existing presence in education. “With Student Spaces, we’re bringing Adobe’s legacy of creativity, productivity, and responsible AI to where students need it most – earning their trust in the classroom so Acrobat becomes the tool they reach for throughout their careers.”

Availability

Acrobat Student Spaces is available now in beta at no cost through Adobe Acrobat. Adobe says millions of students already use Acrobat for reading documents and conducting research, and Student Spaces is designed to extend that usage into active study and collaboration.
