Surprisingly Useful AI Article Enhancements
Adobe has rolled out over 100 new Creative Cloud features at Adobe MAX 2024, aimed at providing creative professionals with enhanced tools for speed, precision, and control. These updates are set to expand the capabilities of key applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and InDesign. The event also introduced updates to Adobe Express and Frame.io, with a focus on streamlining collaboration for creative teams and stakeholders.
At the event, Adobe also announced the expansion of its Firefly family of Ai models, now extending into video. This includes the Firefly Video Model (beta), and new advancements in imaging, vectors, and design. For enterprises, Adobe revealed the general availability of GenStudio for Performance Marketing, an end-to-end content supply chain solution designed to improve marketing content workflows.
Innovation in Ai and Creative Tools
David Wadhwani, President of Digital Media at Adobe, commented on the updates, saying, “We’re giving the creative community a powerful new brush to paint the world by putting unprecedented power, precision, and creative control in their hands.” He stressed the growing demand for content and how Adobe’s innovations are helping creators scale their work across multiple departments, including marketing, HR, and sales.
The Firefly family, which Adobe designed to be safe for commercial use, now powers a range of creative tasks, from generating images to editing videos. Firefly has already been used to create over 13 billion images, a testament to its popularity among creators. One of the major additions is the Firefly Video Model, which allows users to generate video from text and image prompts. This tool integrates deeply into Premiere Pro, enabling creators to extend video clips and smooth transitions.
For image generation, Adobe introduced the Firefly Image 3 Model, which is four times faster than previous versions. Enhancements to the Firefly Vector Model also give designers more control over their projects in Illustrator. Global brands like Deloitte, Gatorade, IBM, and Mattel are already leveraging Firefly to scale content production, particularly in marketing campaigns.
New Features in Creative Cloud Applications
Adobe introduced several enhancements to its key applications. In Photoshop, new Distraction Removal technology helps users remove people, wires, poles, and other unwanted objects from images. Other new features include Generative Workspace (beta), which aids in brainstorming and iterating concepts, and the Substance 3D Viewer (beta), which allows designers to view and edit 3D objects alongside 2D designs.
In Illustrator, Adobe added tools like Objects on Path, which helps users attach, arrange, and move objects along a path quickly. Enhanced Image Trace simplifies the process of converting images to vectors, and Generative Shape Fill (beta), powered by the Firefly Vector Model, allows designers to create detailed vectors more efficiently.
Adobe also introduced Project Neo, a web app aimed at helping designers create and edit 3D designs. Originally previewed at MAX last year, the app has been well received by the creative community and continues to evolve.
Expanding Collaboration with Frame.io and Adobe Express
Adobe MAX 2024 saw the release of a new version of Frame.io, building on its video post-production capabilities. Frame.io now supports collaboration across various media types, including audio, photo, and design, in addition to video. The platform also expanded its Camera to Cloud ecosystem, adding Canon, Nikon, and Leica, allowing for faster and more secure media transfers from set to editing teams.
Adobe Express has also received new features aimed at businesses, providing them with tools to manage approved assets and protect their brand. The application helps creative professionals extend the functionality of apps like Photoshop and Illustrator, enabling seamless transitions between design and marketing teams. This is especially useful for organisations looking to scale their content production.
GenStudio for Performance Marketing
A significant announcement for enterprises was the general availability of GenStudio for Performance Marketing. This new application is part of Adobe’s larger GenStudio platform, which optimises the process of planning, creating, managing, and measuring content for marketing campaigns.
GenStudio brings together creative teams and marketing departments, allowing them to produce variations of content at scale for platforms like social media and mobile. Expanded partnerships with Google, Meta, Microsoft Advertising, Snap, and TikTok will allow brands to launch campaigns more efficiently across platforms, with the ability to make adjustments in real time based on performance insights.
Empowering Creators and the Next Generation
Adobe also showcased new ways for creators to explore concepts and ideas, combining Ai technology with traditional creative workflows. One such example is Project Concept, a tool for multiplayer, collaborative concept development, allowing users to remix images in real time.
Photoshop’s Generative Workspace (beta) was also highlighted, offering tools to help designers brainstorm and iterate on concepts more quickly.
In addition to its product innovations, Adobe announced a new global initiative aimed at helping 30 million students and teachers develop Ai literacy, content creation, and digital marketing skills through Adobe Express. The company is expanding its Adobe Digital Academy and partnering with education organisations to offer training, certifications, and career pathways. Adobe has committed more than $100 million this year to support these efforts, including donations, scholarships, and product access.
