Adobe and Runway Partner On Ai Video Push

Adobe and Runway have entered a multi-year agreement aimed at embedding generative Ai video into professional content workflows across media, production and enterprise settings.

The partnership gives Adobe early access to Runway’s latest generative models, including the newly released Gen-4.5, and will result in co-developed Ai tools tailored for Adobe platforms, starting with Firefly.

Gen-4.5 Lands First In Firefly

Runway’s Gen-4.5 model, which supports high-quality motion, strong prompt fidelity and consistent frame generation, is now live in the Adobe Firefly app and on Runway’s platform. It allows creators to produce dynamic video sequences from text prompts, while enabling realistic physics, character expressions and shot-to-shot continuity.

“This partnership puts our latest generative video technology in front of more storytellers,” said Cristóbal Valenzuela, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Runway. “Inside Adobe’s creative tools that are already the industry standard for many creators around the world.”

Adobe Firefly users are the first to get access to Gen-4.5 ahead of its wider release, with unlimited use for Pro plan subscribers available until December 22.

Ely Greenfield, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Digital Media at Adobe, said the shift toward Ai-powered content was accelerating across formats.

As AI continues to reshape professional video production, established production companies such as dreamengine.com.au can combine emerging technologies with creative storytelling to produce engaging content for brands and businesses.

“As Ai transforms video production, pros are turning to Adobe’s creative ecosystem – from Firefly to Premiere to After Effects – to imagine, craft and scale their stories across every screen,” Greenfield said. “Runway’s generative video innovation combined with Adobe’s trusted pro workflows will help creators and brands expand their creative potential and meet the growing demands of modern content and media production.”

Deep Integration Across Adobe Workflows

As part of the deal, Adobe becomes Runway’s preferred API creativity partner. That means Adobe customers will continue to receive early access to new generative video releases via Firefly.

The companies plan to work with independent filmmakers, studios, streamers and large brands to embed Ai-powered video generation into editing environments such as Premiere and After Effects.

Generated footage can move directly from Firefly into other Adobe Creative Cloud tools for further refinement, enabling hybrid workflows that start with Ai-generated clips and end in traditional editing pipelines. https://www.insmind.com/ai-video-generator

Model Choice Built In

Adobe highlighted that Firefly was designed to support multiple model sources, allowing creators to mix and match tools based on style and tone. This includes Adobe’s own Firefly models, as well as external engines from Runway, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Google, Topaz Labs and others.

Firefly Custom Models also allow creators to build content in a personalised style.

Adobe reiterated that content generated using Firefly is not used to train generative models. “Ai is a tool for, not a replacement of, human creativity,” the company stated, linking to its Ai policy at https://www.adobe.com/ai/overview/firefly/gen-ai-approach.html.

Commercial Push

The partnership reflects a growing commercial focus on generative video tools as production demands rise. Adobe and Runway said their joint efforts would be grounded in industry use cases, co-developed with filmmakers, agencies, streamers and enterprises.

The companies are positioning generative video as an operational tool rather than a novelty, pitching it as a complement to existing production practices rather than a standalone service.

Runway’s Gen-4.5 is already being positioned for production-level use, with its ability to stage complex scenes, guide pacing, manage motion, and stitch sequences into cohesive edits.

Firefly Pro users can generate unlimited videos using the model until December 22.
