ABC Gold Adopts ProvCheck App To Track ESG Provenance

ABC Refinery has become the first refiner to adopt the ProvCheck mobile app, enabling customers to verify the origin and carbon footprint of its 1kg ABC Bullion gold bars.

The app allows buyers to scan their bullion and access authenticated information about the product’s mine-to-market history, including its source and attributable carbon emissions. Developed by Australian firm Blockhead Technologies, ProvCheck is designed to support environmental, social and governance (ESG) compliance across the gold supply chain.

From Doré To Digital Record

The app supports the entire production chain, from miners to refiners and end users. Gold in the form of doré can be registered on the platform by mining companies, while refiners like ABC Refinery can input details as the material is received, processed and cast into bullion.

Customers can then use the ProvCheck app to access this traceable history and verify the authenticity of their gold bars, including safeguards against tampering and fraud.

ABC Refinery Chief Executive Officer Andrew Cochineas said the company’s early adoption of the platform reflects its focus on transparency and innovation.

“ABC Refinery’s adoption of ProvCheck strengthens trust in the provenance of 1kg ABC Bullion gold bars, offering customers deeper insight into their origin and sustainability credentials,” Cochineas said.

He added that the technology enhances visibility around compliance with London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) standards.

“As an LBMA-accredited refiner, ABC Refinery has met the rigorous criteria for inclusion on the LBMA Good Delivery List. ProvCheck now makes this information easily accessible to buyers and traders of 1kg ABC Bullion gold bars via their mobile device,” he said.

“It enables them to review the carbon footprint and offset any carbon emissions attributed to their products directly within the ProvCheck app.”

Supporting Carbon-Conscious Investment

The app integrates with the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme, allowing users to purchase credits to offset the carbon emissions linked to their specific gold bars. This is displayed alongside logistics, refining and mining data within the app interface.

Ben Kirkwood, ESG Lead at ABC Refinery parent company Pallion, said the collaboration with Blockhead Technologies is aimed at improving end-to-end visibility across the supply chain.

“ProvCheck represents a significant step forward for the precious metals industry, providing a seamless way for investors and buyers to verify the sustainability credentials of their gold,” Kirkwood said.

“By enabling customers to trace the provenance of 1kg ABC Bullion gold bars and offset carbon emissions in just a few clicks, the ProvCheck app aligns with the growing demand for responsible sourcing and carbon-conscious investment in Australia and abroad.”

Digital Compliance With Global Standards

ProvCheck is intended to help companies meet LBMA Good Delivery Standards and Responsible Sourcing Program requirements. These frameworks mandate traceability, bar quality and responsible sourcing practices as conditions of market acceptance.

ABC Refinery is Australia’s only independent gold refiner accredited by the LBMA. Its bars are approved for sale on the London bullion market, a status granted only after meeting stringent assaying, technical and financial benchmarks.
